Buyer Beware...

Robert has been eyeing a mini PC for a few months. After a lot of searching he found one he really liked a Best Buy. So as part of our date-night on Friday we went to Best Buy to pick-up the one he wanted. We asked lots of questions to be sure it was the right fit. We took it home and after lots of searching he realized it didn't have the Internet security and blockers we needed. So we took it back on Saturday morning after owning it for 16 hrs. Boy were we surprised when the sales guy told us we would have to pay $45 to return our $300 computer! What! Come again! Yes, a restocking fee of 15% of the purchase price would be applied. After explaining that we were not told by the salesman the night before about the charge and that we did not agree with their policy he begrudgingly told us, "Well, I can make an exception this one time. But next time I wont be able to do this for you. It is on the back of our receipt and we can't tell every customer about our return policies. That just isn't possible. But I can make just this one exception, but next time it wont happen."

WOW! What a saint! I think he needs an award... right. So needless to say we will no longer be shopping at Best Buy. Which is a bummer because we have some tech buys we will be making in the not so distant future and they are usually the place we head to. Well they have lost our business for good. Beware before you buy at Best Buy.

Wow that's crazy. We just bought a portable DVD player from there a few days ago. I hope that we don't have any problems with it. That is just a terrible policy. And to not tell your buyers about it before had seems a little shady.

I really don't like Best Buy and that is the reason why, they have the worst return policies of any store I have ever shopped at...so unless I can not get it anywhere else, or I am saving a TON, I do not shop there.

yep... we've been burned... now we stay away... far away from the stove. They're over-priced anyways. Their loss.

I buy all my tech from TigerDirect.com or Amazon.com now because of the excellent return policies. I have been saying stear clear from Best Buy for years now...
